A 17-year old girl at a dude ranch was injured when a horse fell on her. The injuries were severe enough that the girl had to be airlifted to a hospital.
The girl’s name was not released. At the time, her condition was not available. It is not known if the girl was a guest of the ranch or an employee of the Wind River Ranch.
The ranch is located along Colorado-7 about seven miles south of Estes Park and seven miles north of Allenspark. It offers Christian ministry for families and maintains 65 horses on the property as part of the programs offered.
The ranch’s website says that riders are offered helmets if they are requested. They are not required for horseback riding.
The injured girl was injured when the horse she was riding in a pasture collapsed. It is not known what caused the horse to collapse. The horse was dead when help reached the pair.
