Vail Resorts, a popular ski resort in Colorado, recently settled a wrongful death lawsuit from an incident occurring in 2004. A young ski racer, Ashley Stamp, died after a collision with a snowmobile while she was warming up for a race. No criminal charges were filed after the accident but a wrongful death lawsuit was brought against the resort.
The case never went to trial but it did go to the Colorado Supreme Court, which decided the maximum amount of money the family could recover. The specific terms of the resolution have not been released because a confidentiality agreement was signed between the two parties.
