Personal Injury Claims Rise in Cost

May 8th, 2008 · No Comments

Despite an overall reduction in the number of automobile accidents, insurers are dealing with higher costs on injury claims, due to the rising cost of personal injuries.

According to a report from Datamonitor, personal injury claims are the single largest influence in the inflation of claims.  Because personal injury claims involve both medical expenses and legal costs, they compose the largest bills for motor insurance companies. Claims costs are expected to rise about 28% during the coming five years for personal injury accidents alone.

Personal injuries resulting from automobile accidents are serious events that can negatively alter your physical and financial help.  If you need legal representation, contact the experienced Clearwater personal injury lawyers of Tragos & Sartes today at 727.441.9030 to discuss your situation.

Florida Leads Nation in Boating Deaths

May 8th, 2008 · No Comments

Boating deaths are on the rise in Florida, marking the 16th year out of the last 20 that the state leads the nation.   With a 10% rise in fatalities, for a total of 77 in 2007, Florida holds the infamous title once again.  Unfortunately, lawmakers in the state recently bypassed a plan to require boater education.  Boating experts believe this education could reduce fatalities by up to 25%.  Out of all accidents last year, 70% of those involved had no education.  In all the mortality cases, that statistic jumped to 85%.

With current Florida law, only boaters under the age of 21 must undergo boater education.  The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission has now asked the legislature to approve mandatory boating education over the course of the next 11 years.  They estimate that 15-25 lives a year could be saved.

Boating accidents and deaths are serious issues.  If you or a loved one has suffered due to a boating accident, contact the experienced Clearwater personal injury lawyers at Tragos & Sartes today at 727.441.9030 to discuss your legal options.

April 10th, 2008 · No Comments

A Wisconsin woman filed a personal injury claim against Bi-State Development Agency for injuries sustained on February 2, 2008 after falling on a patch of ice in the handicapped parking lot.  The plaintiff claims Bi-State was negligent because of failing to warn her about “refrozing (sic) ice” which formed after melting from a nearby snow pile.  In the lawsuit, Bi-State is also deemed negligent for failing to salt the icy patch or treat it with chemicals.

The plaintiff suffered various injuries for which she has and will continue to endure pain, permanent disability, and disfigurement.  The plaintiff is asking for a sum in excess of $50,000 to cover medical expenses and lost wages.
