According to the Pasco County Sheriff’s Department, one of their deputies was injured in a crash around noon, Sunday.

The accident occurred at the intersection of Little Road and Denton Avenue close to New Port Richey. The deputy was in a marked police cruiser when he was T-boned by another car while crossing the intersection.

The officer was flown to Bayfront Medical Center in St. Petersburg, but it is unknown what injuries, if any, the occupants of the civilian vehicle sustained.

Earlier this week, an Alachua County jury awarded a Jacksonville family $6.2 million in the medical malpractice suit filed against Shands Hospital at the University of Florida for the death of a University of North Florida business school professor.

In 2002, Cory Fine went to Shands for gastric bypass surgery.  The surgery went well but a couple days later Fine began to have difficulty breathing.  Fine was later sent to radiology for a CT scan.  Before the scan, Fine told CT technicians that he was having trouble breathing and was afraid if he laid down flat he would stop breathing completely.  Despite this, no one at the hospital administered an oxygen saturation level test and the technicians made him lie down for the scan.  Fine died during the procedure.

Police are continuing to investigate a boat accident that injured four people on August 3 on Garnier Bayou.

Officials from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission said that a ski boat crashed into a houseboat, which than collapsed on the boat. There were seven people on the boat when the accident occurred.

Officials say that the driver of the boat was looking over his shoulder to watch the person that was skiing behind the boat. One of the passengers was injured seriously after being pinned underneath the boat and the other three received less serious injuries.

According to WTSP 10 News, a woman is dead after a car crashed through a building window. 44-year-old Asley Boyle was in front of the Delta Realty Building when a car nearly drove through it around 7:45 Sunday evening. Boyle was trapped underneath the vehicle.

Police report that Jonathon Grinstead thought his car was in reverse. He hit the gas pedal. The vehicle was actually in drive, sending it careening over Boyle from Clearwater. Authorities are still investigating the deadly accident.

According to police, a 26-year-old man was traveling south on Missouri Avenue when a 27-year-old woman was turning on Bellair Road. Lacy Smithson’s Dodge SUV struck the 26-year-old’s motorcycle, sending him catapulting from his bike.

Bobby Joseph Paonessa, the motorcyclist from Clearwater, was pronounced dead on the scene. Police are continuing to investigate the deadly  accident. No word on whether alcohol is suspected.
